Northern Broadsides are set to join forces with the award-winning New Vic Theatre to stage William Shakespeare’s comedy The Merry Wives.

Directed and featuring Northern Broadsides stunningly talented Artistic Director Barrie Rutter in the role of Sir John Falstaff (and his third time playing the role, no less!), the new production is set to be amazing. For those who haven’t seen Barrie Rutter on stage before, do grab this chance as he is a wonderful actor and director.  He has recently been awarded the OBE for services to drama, and his recent performance as King Lear was simply stunning.

The production is co-produced with Staffordshire’s New Vic Theatre, and the creative team includes Lis Evans and Adam Foley.

The Merry Wives will open at the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme from 5- 27 February 2016, but there’s not long to wait until the show comes to Halifax, Leeds, Huddersfield and York. Check out the production dates and book your tickets here.

There’s further exciting news! In autumn 2016, Northern Broadsides will be teaming up with York Theatre Royal to tour J B Priestley’s When We Are Married! The production, will also be directed by Barrie Rutter and will open in September 2016. TSOTA can’t wait!
