Calling all Visual Artists! Festival launches new Art Fund

By May 31, 2014

Art & Photography. Leeds.

Kendal Calling is an innovative and multi-award winning independent arts festival based in the idyllic setting of the Lake District. Over the past nine years, a consistently impressive line up of entertainment across the arts has made the festival a key fixture in the UK festival calendar.

TSOTArts is now excited to hear that the festival has announced a fantastic new opportunity to commission SIX brand new, site-specific artworks to be installed at this year’s event with support from Arts Council England, Eden Arts & FutureEverything.

Participating artists are invited to explore the title Beyond Infinity – chosen to reflect the 2014 festival theme: Kendal Calling goes Beyond the Stars. The newly introduced arts trail will complement the theme through showcasing the work of six independent visual artists.

“We are thrilled to announce this new opportunity for visual artists to bring work to the festival. Working with Arts Council England, Eden Arts and FutureEverything will add a whole new dimension to this year’s event.”

Kendal Calling Director Ben Robinson

Kendal Calling are looking for submissions from established and emerging artists that include high quality, engaging visual art works with emphasis on sculpture, light projections and installations. The project encourages artists to create pieces that incorporate an element of digital media interaction to engage the audience at the event.

Supported by Arts Council England and in partnership with Eden Arts and FutureEverything, the Beyond Infinity initiative has a £10,000 commission fund for visual artists: one major commission of £5000 is available for a lead piece, along with five commissions of £1000.
