Is it Panto time already?

Andrew-Pollard-Original-4C-28129-1Since opening its doors in 1994, the Lawrence Batley Theatre hasn’t staged a professional pantomime… yet.

Panto classic Cinderella will be coming to Huddersfield on 9th-31st December. Written by Andrew Pollard, we’re promised sparkling scenery, live music and plenty of laughs. Both Pollard and director Joyce Branagh are no strangers to the panto world, so this looks set to be a pretty awesome show.

Who doesn’t enjoy the magic of Cinderella and her quest to go to the ball? With her friend Buttons and help from the audience, she might just make it.

Victoria Firth, Director of The Lawrence Batley Theatre said:
“I am very excited about this new development for the Lawrence Batley Theatre team – producing our very first pantomime, and our first professional show that’s been created in house in 10 years! Pantomime is a great tradition for all the family and as the theatre for Huddersfield and Kirklees we want the Lawrence Batley Theatre to be the destination of choice for local people celebrating over the festive period.”

Playwright Andrew Pollard added:
“I am thrilled that the Lawrence Batley Theatre is finally producing its own professional pantomime and they are starting with the most popular Panto of all – Cinderella! Filled with slapstick, spectacle, romance and fabulous toe-tapping songs (with a live band) this celeb-free pantomime promises to be a fantastic show for all the family – and all in the intimate setting of the Lawrence Batley Theatre. You won’t just be watching a show – you’ll be part of it!”

Casting’s soon to be announced so watch this space! If you really can’t wait to grab your tickets, they’re on sale now at www.thelbt.org.
